Miaou Moon is a game about propelling a super cute cat around a lunar landscape. Possibly using farts, it's a bit difficult to tell. But even if you're not playing as a guff-powered feline, it's still a lot of fun. Less manic than the usual arcade fare on the App Store this is a game that's as much about floating through the air as it is about using bottom burps to move around. It's fun, it feels reasonably fresh, and while it won't shake the foundations of your gaming beliefs down to their core, you'll still have a smile on your face while you're playing it. HERE KITTY KITTY KITTYThe game sees you stranded on a hostile alien planet with only your wits, some fish, and your sharp sharp claws to aid you.Tap on the left of the screen and a jet of air will push you left, tap on the right and you'll get pushed right. Tap in the middle of the screen and you'll thrash those dangerous claws at anything nearby. You're trying to get to the exit, collecting three batteries on the way. You need to eat fish as you go, to power up your energy. One burst of movement costs you one bit of energy. You can also have too much energy, if you stuff too many fish into your big catty gob.
This is a bad thing, and you'll start taking damage if you stay super-powered for too long. There are plenty of obstacles to avoid or engage with, from clouds that bounce you around if you don't cut them, to live fish that hurt you if you get too close. There are spikes, save points, and all the usual accoutrements you'd associate with a platformer. But this isn't a platformer. It's a bit like a slightly more (and less) cerebral. There's less of the puzzling, but you need to concentrate on making sure you don't run out of energy. Because then you'll suffocate.
No probably not that. The levels are surprisingly large, with multiple branches to explore. And if you want to complete everything you're going to have to make sure you check every nook and cranny. It puffs up the experience, but it can feel a little artificial. It'd be nice if everything was a little more focused, but it's not too much of a black mark against the game's name.
KITTY I LOVE YOU KITTYThere's a sweetness that threads through all of the game, and it's that more than anything that'll keep you ploughing through the levels. You just want to make the kitty happy.
Happy kitties are the best sort of kitties.I mean sure there's a fun game here as well, and it's polished up all shiny like, but it could do with a little tightening up here and there to make it truly indispensable.
